About us

Alicex is the acronym for Alimentos Cárnicos de Extremadura (Food Meat of Extremadura) dedicated to the manufacture of hams, shoulders and sausages with pigs of Iberian breed. We also manufacture several types of patés to spread on toast for breakfast.



Where are we located?

All persons working in Alicex were born in Jerez de los Caballeros and that's where our factory is located. At the heart of the field de Extremadura, the most important area of Spain together with ​​Huelva where is breeding the Iberian pig in the wild.



Dehesa: roughly translating as pastureland, the dehesa is a sprawling area of forest of western Spain. It is a complex, partly man-made ecosystem whose twin pillars are the holm oak and the ibérico pig, principal consumer of the oak’s highly nutritious acorns.

Our experience

Most workers learned the craft from childhood, in Extremadura is common for each family kills one or several pigs each year to eat his hams and sausages later.

Whole life participating in the traditional "the iberian pig slaughter" made in our house, until we decided to build this company so that everyone could enjoy the best of our land. We started the company 20 years ago.



What we sell?

In Alicex we only use free range Iberian pigs in the pastureland to make our hams and sausages.

Because that's what we've seen lifetime, Iberian pigs in the large meadows around our little town in Extremadura.

The authentic Iberian pigs reared in freedom and knowledge handed down from our ancestors to make hams and sausages which are a real delight.

Quality Assurance

In addition to my words, you can see here the Official Certificate the Quality Standard of the Iberian pig of our products.

This certificate is signed by an external auditor, OCA Cert, licensed by the Government of Spain.

Any company that sells Iberian products have to have a certificate as well.

Further, our company is registered in the Denomination of Origin Dehesa de Extremadura, which is the organization that certifies regional hams, shoulders and sausages with the highest quality.

All they come from pigs that are reared on farms not at liberty and only eat grains feed.

Quality Scale of Iberian hams.

This is the real scale of the quality of Iberian or Iberico ham, although manufacturers will can put other names like Supreme, Premium, 5J, 5 Stars, Reserve, ...

1º -. Iberico Ham Bellota Denomination of Origin



Certified Quality of Standard of the Iberian pig by Government of Spain and the Denomination of Origin of Region. (Can be: Extremadura, Huelva,Guijuelo and Pedroches)

This ham is of an Iberian pig that in the last 6 months of his life was in the pastureland eating fresh pastures and acorns at liberty.

Both certificates guarantee the maximum quality of this ham.

2º -. Iberico Ham Bellota



Certified Quality of Standard of the Iberian pig by Government of Spain .

This ham is exactly the same as above, but do not have the certificate of Appellation (Denomination) of Origin. You have to try both to see the differences.

3º -. Iberico Ham Recebo



Certified Quality of Standard of the Iberian pig by Government of Spain.

This ham is from an Iberian pig which eat the last acorns of season in the meadow and as it not have the necessary weight is added natural cereals to his diet to achieve weight.

It is a good ham, with excellent quality / price and many people buy it to eat ham all year. After, to christmas or a family celebration, they buy one of Acorns.

4º -. Iberian Ham Cebo de Campo (fed into the pasture)



Certified Quality of Standard of the Iberian pig by Government of Spain.

This ham is from a pig who does not eat acorns, his diet is cereals and grasses of the pastureland at liberty. It is similar to Recebo, to consume frequently.

5º -. Iberian Ham Cebo (fed into the farms)


This ham is from an Iberian pig but not grows in the pastureland, grows and feeds locked in a farm.

The exercise in the pastureland looking for acorns is what makes the good fat between in the meat from Iberian pigs (infiltrated fat). That fat is oleic acid, the best natural solution to cholesterol and heart disease.



All have oleic acid and infiltrated fat but from 1st to 5th decreases the acorns and the flavor and increases the bacon around the ham.
